Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Work within the financial budget allocated to your speciality, in collaboration with the line manager, General Manager and Head of Nursing.
Promote improvements of quality and clinical effectiveness within resource constraints.
Deliver any relevant clinics for your service, to meet performance targets within speciality.
Act as a positive role model through the provision of effective professional leadership for relevant clinical areas and demonstration of competent and accountable clinical practice.
Act as an adviser/educator and role model to less experienced doctors, nurses and therapists (MDT) to ensure appropriate care is planned, implemented and evaluated.
Be accountable for one’s own professional practice and professional development and ensure registration and compliance with the NMC and the Code of professional Conduct or other relevant regulatory body for the discipline.
Support junior members of staff to do the same.
Facilitate supervision of post-registration health professionals, students and all learners wishing to extend their knowledge of your speciality.
To participate in cross-site working to deliver equitable care, regardless of hospital site, for all patients within the scope of specialism
To scrub in the clean room supporting Minor Ops lists within Ophthalmology
Support outpatients clinics being involved in face to face consultations.

Disclosure and Barring Service Check

The Trust will pay for the check initially and the money will then be deducted from your salary over a three month period commencing on your first month's payment.

The current price of a check is £38 for an enhanced and £18 for a standard check.

Purpose of the job/about the role

This year the Charity has entered into an exciting three-year corporate partnership with a national partner. A key component of this project is to embed Dementia at work support, via this post into the partner organisation across the UK.

This is an exciting role, which with support from the Dementia at work team will see the post holder work in collaboration with the Partner organisation to oversee the development of our Dementia at work offering. Join Dementia UK in a new exciting role as a Consultant Admiral Nurse – Frailty and Physical Health offering expert clinical advice and support to families living with complex issues associated with dementia, frailty and complex physical health needs.

This role presents a unique opportunity to influence policy at a national level, ensuring that the needs of people with dementia, frailty, and complex physical health needs, as well as their families, are represented in key policy and research contexts. As part of the Consultant Admiral Nurse team, you will contribute to and influence our education programs through resource development, increasing awareness and promoting best practices. You will work collaboratively with our partner providers, offering specialist advice and educating fellow Admiral Nurses to a high standard. Additionally, you will be required to spend a minimum of 25% of your time offering specialist clinical advice and support to improve the experience of carers and families, with referrals directed through our delivered clinical service teams, who will provide initial support and information.
