Service/Ward/Department Summary:
Stansfield Place is a 12 bedded male mental health rehabilitation unit based in Rochdale. We are currently seeking to recruit a band 5 staff nurse on a permanent contract to complement the experienced staffing team that is already in place. You will be part of a thriving ward which is committed to providing a high level of quality care to the patients we work with. We offer a comprehensive preceptorship packages to newly qualified nurses to support you in starting your nursing career as well as other mandatory and none mandatory courses to support and enhance your development and clinical skills. The successful applicant will be expected to work day and night shifts, weekends and bank holidays.
Main duties of the job
Role Summary:
You will be an integral part of the team providing direct care to patients with a variety of mental health problems
To act as the named nurse with responsibility for the overall care of an identified group of clients
To regularly act as shift co-ordinator ensuring the smooth running of the clinical area and best utilisation of resources available, with support from senior staff
Key Responsibilities of the Post:
You will be involved in provide a high level of safe and effective care
Be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care
Adhere to all Trust policies, procedures and guidelines
Liaise with the multidisciplinary team
Provide mentorship to others

Education / Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered Mental Health Nurse Qualification
Desirable criteria
- Have completed supervisor and /or assessor training
- At least 12 months experience of working as a qualified nurse
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- The Mental Health Act 1983 and Code of Practice.
- Risk management skills
- Understanding of equality and diversity
- Understanding of clinical audit
- PMVA
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working within mental health setting
- Experience of working within Multi-Disciplinary Team
- Experience of care planning and risk assessment.
- Experience of working with clients with severe and enduring mental illness
Desirable criteria
- At least 12 months in a supervisory role.
