•    Primary and secondary mental health care for children and adults including specialist inpatient child and adolescent mental health provision, perinatal mental health, forensic services including low and medium secure care.
•    Specialist community support for children and adults with learning disabilities and autism, including intensive support.

Job overview

Exciting opportunities has arisen for  Learning Disability Nurses to join the Children’s Learning Disability Team in Central based in Leyland/Preston and West Lancashire team based in Skelmersdale.

 

 

 

Main duties of the job

The Learning Disability Community Service strives to provide forward thinking high quality services, working in partnership with other agencies. In addition to working with people with learning disabilities and their families we have a strong commitment to health promotion through service development and training initiatives.

We are committed to helping our staff develop and you will be part of an enthusiastic and experienced team.

We are looking for a registered nurse with an up to date knowledge of health policy for people with learning disabilities.

Adaptability, good communication skills and self –motivation are essential.

Specialist provision comprises inpatient child and adolescent mental health services, perinatal mental health and forensic services including low and medium secure care.

Education

Essential criteria
  • Registered Learning Disability Nurse
  • Current NMC Registration.
  • Demonstrates continuing professional development

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of Safeguarding Children’s Framework
  • Communication written verbal and through IT
  • Awareness of need for confidentiality.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Ability to support people who have a learning disability and/or Autism on an individual and group basis.
  • Experience of working with children.
  • Ability to work both within a team & to work alone.
