An exciting opportunity has become available within our busy and expanding Children's Bladder and Bowel Service working in the community. If you are a dynamic, motivated and forward thinking Children's Nurse and want to be part of a gold standard service, then this may be just the job for you.  There will be lots of opportunities for learning new skills and qualifications, for NMP course. 

The Children's Bladder and Bowel Service is a small team consisting of Nurse Specialists, Health Care Assistant support and Administration support. The team are enthusiastic, knowledgeable and extremely friendly and supportive group of people, who recognise individuality and encourage progress and change.

Our Children's  Continence Team  are based at Broadoaks CDC in Leyland, where you will be based and expected to travel across Preston, Chorley and South Ribble patch.

 

An Enhanced DBS with lists for children is required for this post.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

To provide expert Children's Continence Service to Children and Young People with bladder and bowel problems at Tier/ Level 2. 

To provide appropriate child and family focused nursing support to Children Young People and their families that responds to individual and local community needs. To take into account the need to prevent hospital admission. To facilitate early discharge and provide ongoing continence care for children and young people with continence needs working across the whole of the child/ young person's environment- home, school, community and hospital- to facilitate participation, inclusion and normality.

An ability to work as an autonomous  practitioner is paramount to assess children holistically, plan, implement and evaluate evidence based care.

You will contribute to continuous improvement of the service through teaching and support of other health care professionals and acting as a source of nursing expertise in this area.

Swydd ddisgrifiad a phrif gyfrifoldebau manwl

Post holder to work flexibly across the Children's Bladder and Bowel service, delivering high quality, evidence-based bladder and bowel care for children and young people. 

Perform and interpret complex skills in; urinalysis, bladder and bowel charting, ultrasound bladder scanning.

Draw upon an appropriate range of multi-agency and inter-professional resources in their practice.

Develop and use knowledge and skills in order that professional development, bladder and bowel competencies can be maintained and keep professional portfolio up to date. To accept responsibility for own professional practice as a reflective, accountable clinical practitioner.

Escalate concerns in relation to management plans/ treatment/ safeguarding/ social issues to ensure the child's safety is paramount and in accordance with legislation.

  • Mentorship qualification

  • Non-medical prescribing qualification or willingness to work towards

Knowledge & Experience

  • Experience of working with children and young people with continence issues
  • Previous experience of undertaking continence assessments
  • Ability to Implement changes within nursing practice
  • Knowledge of Clinical Governance and Safeguarding and the relevance of these to practice
  • Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures
  • Experience of mentorship
