Job overview
An opportunity has arisen to join our Forensic inpatient service as a Senior Nurse – Out of Hours. Working to deliver Secure Mental Health Care to the highest possible standard, applications are invited from experienced nurses to take on the challenging role of Senior Nurse.
The forensic inpatient service provides high quality care for service users who require a safe and secure environment. As a service we are committed to staff development and wellbeing. The post holder will provide leadership to professional and direct care staff to ensure we maintain high standards across the 24 hour period. The senior nurse will provide a visible, accessible and authoritative presence on wards, to whom patients and staff can turn for assistance, advice and support.
The post holder will be expected to cover night shifts predominantly but there will be an expectation to rotate onto days when required.
This shift pattern we support and compliment the team to ensure that 24 hours clinical leadership and expertise cover is provided. As a senior nurse you will support our Forensic inpatient service.
The Senior Nurse must be clinically up to date and have skills in supporting others to perform to high standard. The successful candidates must demonstrate a commitment to maintaining clinical and professional standards.
Main duties of the job
We currently require nurses with at least 24 months experience at Band 6 or above who have recent, significant experience of working within an inpatient mental healthcare setting. All applicants must have an interest and skills in psychological approaches to working with clients and have a commitment to working collaboratively with clients who may present challenges for engagement.
Successful applicants will be able to experience a broad range of clinical specialities and will have access to a comprehensive package of leadership coaching, education and clinical support; and will be able to show evidence of personal and professional development which has had positive impact of the service they currently work in.
This post will be suited to someone with experience of understanding, managing challenging and emotionally demanding clinical presentations. The individual will be able to guide, support, supervise and role-model on how to respond to these challenges.

o Men's service
o Women's service
o Acquired Brain Injury Service
Caring for adults within Medium and Low Security, and Step Down environments. Each of the services has their own model of care and provides bespoke training in addition to the comprehensive Trust and site Induction.
