Job overview
The post holder will work within the Community Education Sexual Health Team (CESH) as part of Blackpool and Lancashire Sexual Health Service.
The post will focus on providing sexual health education to young people in education and non-education settings, providing updates, advice, information and support to professionals and partner agencies who work with young people under 25.
Main duties of the job
The Community Education Sexual Health Team is part of Blackpool Teaching Hospitals and is commissioned by Lancashire County Council. We are a small team covering the LCC footprint.
- To support the co-ordination and further develop sexual health services available to young people under 25 across the Lancashire County Council footprint.
- To act as a source of specialist knowledge and provide expert advice, education and training to colleagues, other professionals, the local community, and young people.
- To provide information to young people within a variety of settings around sexual health and signposting to clinical services.
- To offer up to date information and support to partners who work with young people under 25 in relation to unintended teenage pregnancy, sexual health, general health, and well-being.
- To contribute to the development and delivery of training packages relating to sexual health.
- To deliver sessions in a range of educational settings, High Schools, SEND Schools, Grammar Schools, Colleges, Universities etc

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The role will be predominantly to cover West Lancashire, including Ormskirk, Skelmersdale & surrounding area. You will be expected to cover other areas across Lancashire. It is essential you have a current driving licence and access to a vehicle for work.
- To maintain good communication with partner agencies to ensure Sexual Health continues to be at the forefront of conversations so they know how to access service.
- To ensure the online offer continues to be promoted in all settings, including postal testing options, postal condoms, and E-Contraception
- Effective implementation of the free condom distribution scheme in relevant settings, and ensuring those services stay up to date with the distribution, data collection if required and that the condoms remain in date.
- The distribution of condoms in appropriate situations, including Fraser assessment for any under 16s.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Degree or equivalent knowledge in appropriate subject
- Qualification related to health or youth work, social services or education or sexual health outreach experience.
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Evidence of recent work in a community setting
- Knowledge of public health agenda in relation to young people and teenage pregnancy strategy.
- Knowledge and understanding of STIs, HIV, contraception, and access to sexual health services, including digital options.
- An understanding of issues in relation to young people's health and well-being.
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working with young people in relation to sexual health and teenage pregnancy.
Skills

- Evidence of good communication abilities both written and verbal.

- Understanding of confidentiality policies in sexual health.
