Job overview
The successful candidate will need to have relevant skills and expertise to carry out a variety of mental health needs assessments plus be able to plan and deliver interventions, both with individuals, their carers and groups.
You will need to be clinically confident and competent in working with individuals in community settings from an older adult population and be able to work effectively in a multi-professional context.
You should have collaborative and enthusiastic styles as well as a passion and commitment to developing and promoting service provisions for older adults with mental health and dementia related needs.
Main duties of the job
The post requires that you are a good communicator and are able to adopt a flexible, adaptable and proactive approach to your work. You will be experienced in service development and have a keen interest in developing and shaping the Memory Assessment Service within West Kent.
As well as providing specialist assessment and treatment within the Memory Assessment Service you will be taking a lead role in the memory clinic providing initial assessments, pre and post diagnostic support and treatment for people being diagnosed with dementia.
You will benefit from encouragement to continue to develop your own specialist skills, knowledge and competence through participation, reflection, supervision and training and your development will be guided using the trust’s appraisal process.

Training and Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Professional qualification and current registration – RMN/OT
- MELPS (Mentoring and Enabling in a clinical setting)
Desirable criteria
- ENB 998
Experience
Essential criteria
- Minimum of 5 years relevant experience and 3 years in community setting
- Previous Experience of working in community setting with older adults
- Offering Support to carers/families in relation to distressing circumstances
- Offering organic assessments to client groups
Desirable criteria
- Experience of forensic cases
- Previous experience of service development
Knowledge and Skills
Essential criteria
- Knowledge of recovery model
- Knowledge of social inclusion, especially in adults 65 years and above
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Knowledge of memory pathway
Desirable criteria
- An awareness of NHS plan, NSF and Clinical Governance Priorities
