The Perinatal Mental Health Community Service (PMHCS) covers the whole of Kent and Medway. PMHCS specialise in the assessment, diagnosis and short-term treatment of women aged 18 and above who are affected by a moderate to severe mental health illness in the preconception, antenatal and postnatal period.
You will be an active member of the Perinatal Mental Health Community Service, providing specialist clinical interventions and support to a defined caseload of women and their infants who experience perinatal mental illness.

To work alongside the existing PMHCS team delivering a service to Mothers and Infants within the Kent & Medway area.
To maintain a clinical caseload within agreed limits. Providing a range of specialist clinical interventions to clients with perinatal mental illness.
To provide specialist liaison advice and support on the developments of nursing practice within the PMHCS to professionals within primary and secondary care.
To participate in the delivery of specialist perinatal mental health training and supervision to other professionals within primary and secondary care when needed.
To develop links with local mental health services to improve the interface between primary and secondary care for this client group.

The Perinatal Mental Health Community Service (PMHCS) is seeking a part-time highly experienced Mental Health Nurse to join the West Kent team based in Maidstone. We are particularly interested in applicants that have a passion for working in perinatal mental health, with mums and their families, and have a keen interest in developing specialist skills in this area.
This is an exciting opportunity to advance your knowledge and skills, with the backing of a well-developed team to make a difference to the recovery of our mums. You would further develop your expertise to ensure that we deliver high quality, person centred care at the right time and in the right place.
To accept referrals requiring specialist input for assessment, treatment and coordination with other relevant services.
To work collaboratively with care co-ordinators and other mental health professionals complimenting the ongoing intervention of the generic teams during the perinatal period.
To provide specialist clinical interventions to clients, infants and families experiencing perinatal mental illness.
To manage caseloads and administration systems.
To formulate, implement and evaluate clinical programmes.
