We are recruiting for an Imaging Assistant who shares our ambition and vision to deliver the Best of Care by the Best People and has the drive to take us forward, by ensuring that the Trust continues to be the first choice for patients and our staff.

Main duties of the job

The successful post holder will be expected to work in multidisciplinary areas - supporting the 24 hour running of Imaging modalities.

The role will be to assist with the planning, implementation, and evaluation of care and services given to patients undergoing Imaging procedures.

As an Imaging Assistant, you must be flexible and have proven experience of working within an acute healthcare setting.  Basic computer skills are desirable.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Establish and maintain good communication skills with people about routine and daily activities overcoming and difference in communication between the people involved. This information may include complex or sensitive condition related information and the post holder will develop skills to provide empathy and reassurance.

To have a good knowledge of radiology procedures and practices ensuring high standards of care is delivered at all times.

To be fully aware of and be able to react quickly in an emergency situation, i.e. fire alarm, cardiac arrest.

To prepare the examination rooms for procedures. This will include the correct selection and assembling of medical equipment.

The checking of emergency equipment, such as Oxygen/Suction and emergency drug boxes and Resuscitation trolley where appropriate to ensure good working order.

Ensure documentation of the above and report any abnormalities to the nurse in charge.

Take any appropriate action to remedy the situation i.e. arrange for oxygen cylinder to be replaced.

To administer barium enema catheters, whilst monitoring and maintaining the health and safety of patient and recognising the need to refer patients to other practitioners when their needs are beyond their own skills of practice.

To use aseptic techniques when setting routine and complex sterile trolleys, and to have an understanding of the difference between sterile and non-sterile procedures.

To travel to different sites based on a rotational rota.
