Chemotherapy Support Worker

The postholder will provide a comprehensive, confidential and high quality administrative and clinical support service to the patients and staff on Pine Therapy Unit under the supervision and guidance of a Registered Nurse. 

 

They will be expected to liaise and communicate with members of the multi-disciplinary team and allied health care professionals to provide coordinated high-quality patient centered care.

 

The postholder will be able to work autonomously and make decisions with minimal support and will be responsible for undertaking delegated personal care duties for patients/clients

We are looking for a support worker to join our team on Pine Therapy Unit, caring for patients/clients undergoing cancer treatment.  

We are an ambulatory day unit that provides chemotherapy, immunotherapy and supportive treatments for patients who have solid tumour cancers and haematology cancers.

We have an excellent reputation within Cancer Services, and pride ourselves in delivering a high standard of treatment and care for our patients.

Education and Training

Meini prawf hanfodol
  • NVQ level 3 or equivalent
  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent including English and Maths
  • Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Evidence of CPD
  • Good knowledge across a range of health or social care settings

  • Care Certificate

Experience

  • Minimum 18 months’ experience as a Band 3 Nurse Assistant or CSW
  • Experience of dealing with nonroutine and complex problems and progress chasing
  • Working knowledge of patients’ needs
  • Ability to work unsupervised and use own initiative
  • Basic admin experience

  • Proficient in the use of hospital computerised patient systems PAS, Radiology and Pathology.
