We are inviting applications from dynamic, motivated, innovative, and efficient registered nurses, and allied health professionals with skills and knowledge in safeguarding to join our All-Age Safeguarding Service as the All-Age Specialist Safeguarding Practitioner - Adults Focus.
The role involves working closely with a range of stakeholders and partners to develop, implement, oversee, and improve safeguarding practice and the application of the Mental Capacity Act, across the Trust, working in partnership with the All-Age Safeguarding Service based on the Isle of Wight. You will be working alongside All Age Specialist Safeguarding Practitioners with Children /Maternity Focus and Transition Focus.

Main duties of the job
The All-Age Specialist Safeguarding Practitioner is a senior member of the safeguarding team. The post holder will work in a team of competent safeguarding practitioners all committed to making a difference through the safeguarding agenda. They will hold line management responsibilities within the team and support the Lead Professional and Named Nurses to deliver an inclusive working environment that nurtures learning and effective provision of quality services. They will play a key role in developing and supporting others informed by the appraisal process, fostering inclusivity, diversity, and equality.
The role requires the post holder to work across the safeguarding agenda and support the Lead Professional and Named Nurses to discharge safeguarding adults, children, maternity and the mental capacity act, statutory duties, and responsibilities. The role will contribute to, developing, and implementing single and multi-agency strategies, policies, procedures, practice guidance, protocols and audits relating to safeguarding, working in partnership to support stakeholders including health providers, NHS E/I, the children and adult safeguarding partnership/ board, advocacy services and other health and non-health partners in carrying out their safeguarding responsibilities and embedding the principles of the MCA.

The single corporate service is delivered across both organisation. You may be based at either IWT or PHU and individuals may be required to undertake business travel between sites. For leaders managing staff across multi-site locations, you will need to be visible and provide in person leadership. The arrangements and frequency will be agreed locally.

Person specification
Qualification and Skills & Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Registered Professional (NMC, HCPC, GMC or equivalent) or Extensive transferrable experience in safeguarding
- Minimum of 3 years practical experience of active involvement with adult safeguarding work.
- Knowledge of national and local Safeguarding Policies, guidelines, and recommendations.
Desirable criteria
- Teaching and Leadership Qualification
- Practical experience of active involvement with midwifery / children’s safeguarding

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
