Job overview
The LMNS Digital lead midwife role is required to support HWE ICB to ensure Trust engagement and collaboration at senior, clinical and digital leadership levels.
The post holder will work with HWE LMNS, to support implementation of system wide design principles, in line with the Maternity Transformation Programme and the What Good Looks Like Framework.
Include the voice of the women/birthing partners to support digital transformation, attend regional meetings, support LMNS partnership board work on behalf of the LMNS Maternity and Neonatal Governance Lead and wider team.
Please note that priority will be given to HWE ICB employees who are affected by change.
Main duties of the job
- The HWE LMNS Digital Lead is a member of the LMNS Senior Leadership Team. The post holder will work by leading and developing the Digital work stream which forms an essential part of the HWE LMNS Maternity Transformation Plan.
- The post holder will have suitable clinical experience as a midwife to work in partnership with LMNS Project Managers, Clinical Leads, and local maternity provider senior teams to support the delivery of an LMNS wide Maternity Information System.
- This post will ensure Trust engagement and collaboration at senior clinical and digital leadership levels, across the LMNS, in the implementation of system wide design principles, in line with the Maternity Transformation Programme and the What Good Looks Like Framework.
- The post holder will work in partnership with the ICS and Trusts, to develop a digital strategy and guiding principles for the LMNS, which will inform the Trust’s individual strategies and implementation plans.
The post holder will be considered the Maternity Transformation Subject Matter Expert in ensuring the digital development of our LMNS system reflects that of the Maternity Transformation Programme

Knowledge, Training and Experience
Essential criteria
- Registered Midwife
- Organisation development: understanding of the requirements of an information culture and emerging technologies
- A knowledgeable clinician with ability to ensure clinical governance is embedded in practice.
- Knowledge of the national and local NHS healthcare agenda and its implications
- Knowledge of professional priorities and issues
- Convinced and committed about informatics as a tool to drive up clinical quality of care and support professional practice.
- Successful influencer and negotiator: able persuade clinicians to engage with, implement and embed change to achieve successful outcomes.
- Credible in a multi-professional Environment
Communication Skills
Essential criteria
- Developed communication skills for delivering key messages to a range of stakeholders both internal and external (including outside the NHS) to the organisation, some at very senior level.
- Good presentational skills for conveying complex concepts.
- Ability to use informed persuasion to influence others.
Analytical
Essential criteria
- Ability to identify risks, anticipate issues and create solutions and to resolve problems in relation to project or service delivery.
- Ability to understand a broad range of complex information quickly and making decisions where opinions differ/no obvious solution
