Job overview

We are recruiting for a Registered Nurse who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

We have 20 critical care beds and can offer you broad experience in caring for critically ill adults in an innovative, challenging and aspirational workplace.

We are committed to advancing nursing practice and our Clinical Nurse Educator provides in-house training and support for clinical and professional development.

Main duties of the job

To manage the ventilated, haemofiltered, and cardiovascularly compromised patient initially under supervision, whilst developing professionally, utilising competency based Knowledge & Skills Framework (KSF) leading to autonomy of care when proficient, in conjunction with further development of management skills. 

Support Nurse Team Leaders and Nurse team managers in the training and development of junior staff.

Demonstrate proficiency in the management of acutely unwell / deteriorating patients nursed outside the critical care setting, ie Recovery and Emergency Department. 

Keep fully informed about changes in Critical Care, Outreach and update
professional knowledge to meet the requirements for Revalidation.

 Plan and deliver patient care to the highest standard utilising a holistic research based model and including patient and relative involvement.

Qualifications / Training

Essential criteria
  • RGN
  • Willingness to complete Diploma/ Degree in Critical Care Nursing.
Desirable criteria
  • Post basic course ENB 124/ 100 / 920
  • ENB 998 /City and Guilds 7307
  • Evidence of continuing education

Previous Experience

Desirable criteria
  • Ward experience within an acute environment
  • Critical Care experience
  • Critical Care shift leadership
  • Mentorship training
  • Awareness of resource management

Skills/ Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Good standard of clinical care
  • Able to work well in a team
  • Knowledge of current developments in pre and post registration nursing
  • Awareness of current issues in Nursing /NHS
Desirable criteria
  • Demonstrable teaching skills
  • Ability to contribute to practice changes arising from audits
  • Current developments in Critical Care Nursing
