An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Children Looked After and Care Leavers Team for a Band 7 Specialist Nurse.
If you want a challenge to work with children and young people 0-18 years in care and identify and support with their health needs then this role could be for you. We want to recruit a dedicated and skilled nurse who can demonstrate their passion and innovation and be part of our small friendly team.
Main duties of the job
To aim to improve the physical and emotional health of CLA and Care Leavers from birth to 25 years and to promote and strengthen multi-agency working and collaboration. This includes ensuring that organisations, professionals, and carers work together to deliver high quality care, maintain stable placements, and encourage nurturing relationships for CLA.To complete high quality health assessments within statutory requirements for children and young people (CYP) in care. Predominantly in Hertfordshire the Specialist CLA nurse will see 16 - 18 year olds which includes separated migrant children.
The service is also commissioned to complete health assessments for all ages (0-18) of CYP placed outside of Hertfordshire within a 30 mile radius.

Qualifications and Training
Essential criteria
- Registered General Nurse
- Community Specialist Practitioner (SCPHN)
- Evidence of continuing professional development
Desirable criteria
- Masters
- Previous work with vulnerable children/young people
- Previous work with separated migrant children
- Mental Health
Experience and Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Adolescents
- Vulnerable children and their carers in a community setting
- Inter-agency statutory and non-statutory agencies
- Extensive post graduate experience in a community setting
- Caseload management
Skills and abilities
Essential criteria
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills
- Able to use initiative and take responsibility
- Demonstrate ability to implement innovations in practice
General Skills
