Job overview
We are recruiting for a Nurse Team Manager - Endoscopy who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.
You will be expected to have a vibrant and innovative approach to advanced nursing practice; have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and will have overall responsibility for the daily operational management of clinical service delivery of the Endoscopy Units at The Lister Hospital and the QE11.
You will provide clinical and managerial leadership to nursing and support staff promoting the principle of cross site collaboration and teamwork.

Main duties of the job
Be accountable for the line management of nursing staff, enabling the department to provide the highest standards of care, minimising any risks to service users.
Promote high standards of professional practice and the delivery of quality care within the corporate policies, protocols and guidelines.
Be accountable for the delivery and monitoring of robust infection control measures at department level, through relentless vigilance by ensuring delivery of all aspects of the Infection Control Strategy.
Be accountable for the budget management
Provide effective leadership for all nurses, Nurse Associates, Clinical support workers, Porter employed by the service.
Be a member of the endoscopy’s management team providing expert advice and direction on nursing and clinical governance issues.
Be a role model for nurses, representing the department and Trust as required and identified by the PSM, DHON,HON, Clinical Director and General Manager.
Demonstrate leadership attributes and a willingness to develop the role further.

Qualifications / Training
Essential criteria
- Registered nurse on part 1 of the NMC register
- Relevant clinical post registration education to include a recognized Mentorship qualification
- JETs/GIM accredited endoscopy nurse or relevant competences and training
- Relevant degree or working towards Degree
Desirable criteria
- Managerial and leadership qualification /relevant experience
Previous Experience
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse with proven recent experience at Band 6 in the endoscopy setting
- Uses evidence based practice to support care delivery
- Evidence of an understanding in expenditure and budget management
Desirable criteria
- Involvement in audit/research and willingness to present findings at meetings and conferences.
Skills
Essential criteria
- Ability to communicate effectively at a complex level-excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent clinical knowledge and skills, of endoscopy working including PEG, ERCP, Scoping
- Ability to advocate for all patients, particularly vulnerable patients
- Ability to manage self and others in delivery of own work and related clinical outcomes to meet departmental expectations.
- Demonstrate evidence of strong leadership and motivational skills, ability to lead and motivate large clinical team.
- Demonstrate , sound organisational skills and ability to work effectively in a devolved management structure.
- Performance management skills, including understanding of and invoking disciplinary procedure.
Desirable criteria
- Research and development including presentation at national and international conferences
- Proven track record in change management, to include service development.
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Knowledge of current Trust wide and BSG and JAG requirements for endoscopy
- Proactive in the understanding of risk management, health and safety and other clinical governance issues.
- Evidence, understanding and insight into current issues in nursing and the NHS Knowledge of local and national health care initiatives/innovation to improve patient care, experience and safety.
- Demonstrates ability to influence and manage successfully
- IT skills – understanding windows, word, excel and PowerPoint
Desirable criteria
- In depth understanding of product procurement process
