We are recruiting for Nurse Team Leaders who share our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

In October 2023 East and North Hertfordshire urgent and emergency care services received significant revenue investment. Therefore, we are looking to increase our Nurse Team Leaders.
Our emergency department sees over 135,000 patients a year and we have a nursing team of over 200 staff to deliver high quality, compassionate care to every patient who enters our department. Wellbeing is incredibly important to us, we have a close-knit team who support each other. Our matrons support with regular catch-up sessions and we encourage debriefing and feedback. We also have a newly redecorated staff room to encourage a more relaxing environment for our much-needed break times.

Main duties of the job
At times you will be responsible for the shift co-ordination of one of the key areas within the emergency department i.e. Streaming and Triage, Ambulance Handover, Resus, Majors and CDU.
You will ensure that patient care is of the highest possible standard and provide advice and support to all staff working in the area.
You will be responsible for the development, monitoring and auditing of standards for use in the clinical area.
Ensuring that care delivered in the clinical area is of the highest quality, supported by research and in accordance with local and national policies, procedures and guidelines.
Working in collaboration with other key staff in the clinical group, maintain effective use of bed availability by timely and effective admission and discharge.

Qualifications/Training
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse
- ILS
- Post registration course in teaching/assessing and mentorship
- A&E/ Emergency Care course or equivalent
- Degree to BSc level
- Relevant post registration qualifications
Desirable criteria
- ALS provider
- ATNC /ATLS attendance
- PILS/APLS
Previous Experience
Essential criteria
- Previous experience of working in an ED department
- Evidence of ongoing professional development
- Commitment to learning
- Experience of assessing and teaching pre-registration students
- Experience in supporting and developing unqualified nurses
- Currently working in an acute environment within the NHS

- Nurse in charge / Management experience
