We currently have opportunities to join the Nursing Bank within Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (HPFT). In particular we are looking for temporary staff to work at Band 5 level, within our Forensic Services at Beech Ward, Radlett. This would be a 6 month placement within the Ward.

All roles on the bank are for as and when workers and therefore in particular may suit those already working part-time, with other commitments, or who want to work on a short-term basis.

HPFT provides services for service users with mental health, learning disability and children’s and adolescent mental health problems. Applicants should have some experience of working in a healthcare setting particularly within mental health services.

HPFT has a range of healthcare settings across the County and therefore access to a car would be beneficial unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010 which prevents you from driving

Main duties of the job

This Forensic Staff Nurse role is the perfect opportunity for a Band 5 Mental Health Nurse looking to join a supportive multi-disciplinary team in a dynamic and rewarding environment where no two days are the same.

Beech Ward is a 15-bed low-secure service for men with mental illnesses and a history of offending behaviour who are at significant risk of causing harm to others. It offers specialist psychological, psychiatric and behavioural therapies and complex specialist rehabilitation to help patients prepare for their return to life in society.

Our service-users are our number one priority, so we need non-judgemental, sensitive staff who are committed to supporting others, even at more challenging times. Excellent communication, interpersonal and team-working skills are essential for this role, as well as initiative, mature judgment and a calm and friendly manner.

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate an ability to manage 
competing demands and organise their own work effectively. They will also need a good understanding of relational security and be prepared to always model and promote the Trust’s values.
