Are you a band 6 Neonatal Nurse who wants to develop leadership and management skills within a team ?
Hampshire Hospitals NHS Trust, working as part of the Thames Valley and Wessex Neonatal Network has opportunities for Band 6 Neonatal Nurses to join our team.
Are you a Band 6 currently practicing as a neonatal nurse, have completed a neonatal intensive care course, teaching and mentorship qualification and have excellent standards of neonatal nursing practice and are looking for a chance to develop your career?
Main duties of the job
The neonatal unit in Winchester is designated as a local neonatal unit, we have 18 cots, 2 intensive care, 2 high dependency, 8 special care, and 6 transitional care.
Part of your role would be taking responsibility for the day-to-day management and coordination of the unit, discharge planning and supporting the nursery nurses on our transitional care unit.

Training and Qualificationa
Essential criteria
- RGN/Dip HE in Child Health/RM/ RSCN (2)
- Currently practising as a neonatal nurse (2)
- Neonatal Intensive Care course/ENB 405or equivalent (2)
- Mentorship course or equivalent (2)
Desirable criteria
- Management Course (2)
Experience and Knowledge
Essential criteria
- A minimum of 2 years Neonatal experience (2)
- Ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for a group of infants. (2)
Desirable criteria
- Currently practising at band 5 with regular supervised “in charge” shifts.
- Experience of change management (2)
Skills and Ability
Essential criteria
- Ability to act as a role model (2)
- Teaching and assessing skills (2)
Working Patterns
Essential criteria
- Willing to undertake internal rotation onto nights. (2)
- Able to recognise potentially stressful situations and deal with them appropriately (2)
- Excellent communication skills.
