Job overview
The Emergency Department considers the clinical educator role as pivotal to the optimal care of
our patients and to the success of our Department. The delivery of high quality, effective and compassionate
care is the most important role within the organisation. This clinical leadership and educational role therefore has the
authority required to deliver the responsibilities and accountabilities outlined in this job description.

Main duties of the job
- To deliver practice-based education for clinical nursing care across the ED.
• To promote the ED as a good learning environment, to ensure care is evidence based
and meets the individual needs of patients being cared for in the ED.
• In partnership with the Deputy Divisional Chief Nurse and Clinical Matrons, to support the
professional and clinical development of staff to improve practice standards using competency based
frameworks and national guidelines.
• To use effective leadership skills and lead by example and undertake clinical practice, working
alongside staff providing supervision, teaching and assessment of competence.
• To support all nursing staff in their professional and personal development.
• Maintain own professional and personal development through clinical practice.
• Demonstrates a high level of knowledge, skill and understanding of clinical practice.
• Act as a professional role model who leads by example regarding attitude, conduct, behaviour and
appearance.
• To support induction and orientation of new staff members with regards to clinical skills
development.
• To provide clinical teaching within ward settings.
