Main duties of the job
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate and motivated Senior Healthcare Assistant to join the team in Orthopaedic Outpatient Services within the Trauma and Orthopaedic Care Group to work at Royal South Hants (RSH).
We are a friendly and welcoming team who offer a supportive working environment. We see a variety of people and have specialist skills to meet the needs of patients with complex injuries and conditions. We also have a strong relationship with our patients and offer them support and information to help aid their recovery. Our small team includes qualified nurses, plaster technicians and healthcare assistants. We cover clinics Monday –Friday and cross between RSH and UHS sites.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
To assist, under supervision the provision of general and technical activities in the delivery of patient care.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
We are looking for an individual with a keen interest in Trauma and Orthopaedics (T&O). Previous T&O experience is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided. A desire to continue to develop & learn is paramount. All applicants would need to be flexible and competent in wound care.

Qualifications / training required
Essential criteria
- NVQ 3 in health and social care or equivalent
- Numeracy and Literacy skills at level 1 or 2 or equivalent
Desirable criteria
- Keyboard skills
- Experience and competent in additional clinical skills
Relevant experience
Essential criteria
- Proven experience in a caring role
- Understanding of an acute hospital setting and the role of the SHCA
Desirable criteria
- Previous HCA experience
- Previous experience of working with the general public
- Experience of using a computer
