Main duties of the job

The Endoscopy team at the University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) are delighted to be able to offer a fantastic opportunity for an experienced endoscopy nurse who is focused, friendly and an enthusiastic individual, who wants to develop their managerial and leadership skills.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Responsibilities 

- Provide holistic care to Patient who undergo procedures in the Endoscopy Unit as part of their clinical pathway in clinic settings including digital platforms. 
- Assessment and monitoring of patients conditions and medications providing advice and guidance in line with their individualized care pathway. 
- Contribute to the development and delivery of nurse-led initiatives for the benefit of the patient within the Endoscopy Unit, in conjunction with medical, nursing and admin colleagues.
- Develop and sustain appropriate multidisciplinary working relationships
- Seek opportunities to develop knowledge, skills and attitudes, including accessing clinical supervision. 
- Accountable for a pastoral team and run continuous assessment of their skills and needs
- Support education development of their pastoral team
- Engage with the management team towards implementing change in the Endoscopy Unit.

Experience and Skill

We are looking for a strong applicant with a passion to provide first class patient centred care in the Endoscopy Unit.  
- Experience in Endoscopy is essential.  
- Experience at a band 5 registered nurse level will be required. 
- To be confident in own knowledge base but seek guidance when appropriate. 
- Candidate must be confident in working as  part of a multidisciplinary team and will be supported to develop independent practice.

Qualifications, knowledge and experience

Essential criteria
  • Qualified Nurse (Degree/Diploma)
  • Registered nurse on appropriate part of the register
  • Significant post registration experience / qualification / training, including experience and knowledge within relevant speciality
  • Ward management experience
  • Knowledge of current issues within acute Health Service Experience in an acute hospital setting
  • Provide evidence of supporting / managing a range of learners in practice
  • Provide evidence of supporting colleagues to promote effective learning in practice
  • Ability to demonstrate clinical decision making and judgement
  • Commitment to the post and Care Group responsibilities
  • Commitment to continuing professional development
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in handling adverse events and complaints
