Job overview

The role is a primary function supporting the team for the optimal care of our patients.

Scrub and circulatory responsibility within the MPU. Assisting the operator with procedures. 

 The delivery of high quality, effective and compassionate health care to all patients attending the Minor Procedures Unit, located at the Candover Clinic is the most important objective for the organisation.

Main duties of the job

To support the team in the delivery of the service, this includes:

  • High standards of Professional Practice to ensure delivery of high quality safe and effective care.
  • Ability to scrub for cases such as dermatology, cataracts and vascular.
  • Ability to admit and discharge patients for minor procedures in accordance with trust policy and up to date clinical guidance.
  • Be able to use clinical systems such as patient centre, EPR and NEXUS for the admission and discharge of patients
  • Developing own clinical practice, knowledge, skills and experience.
  • Acting as a good role model
  • Supporting the team in ensuring that clinical services are delivered to a high standard and that all compliance requirements such as CQC and contractual requirements are achieved.
  • To undertake the comprehensive assessment of patients using investigative and analytical skills where factors may be conflicting, requiring analysis and interpretation skills and the comparison of a range of options to achieve effective treatment or discharge planning check
  • To develop clinically reasoned treatment, action and discharge plans and to undertake and evaluate treatment

Supporting the MPU scrub team and OPD clinic team in day to day tasks such as stock ordering and audits

Training and qualification

Essential criteria
  • • Degree level education or equivalent knowledge and skills gained through any combination of alternative study, or employment experience
  • • Professional UK registration e.g. NMC, HCPC
  • • Computer Literate
Desirable criteria
  • Theatre or Scrub related qualifications
  • Phaco qualification

Experience and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of Continued Professional Development (CPD) clearly recorded for professional profile
  • Experience in scrubbing for minor procedures/ theatre experience
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in scrubbing for Phaco/cataracts
  • Experience of staff supervision

Skills and ability

Essential criteria
  • • Ability to communicate written and verbal information in English, keeping legible and accurate notes
  • • Ability to cope with working in a stressful and unpredictable environment.
Desirable criteria
  • • Should be willing to work flexible hours on occasion
