Job overview

Band 6 Midwife- Full or Part Time

We are looking for experienced and passionate band 6 midwives to join our community teams. 

You will work  a mixture of weekdays and weekends, each week, providing continuity to the women in your caseload for antenatal and postnatal care.

Happy to talk flexible working. You must be able to work 4x on call per year for the acute site  which are picked and planned by yourself. 

A full UK drivers license and access to a vehicle is necessary for the role. 

Please note that at present we are unable to accept candidates who are not registered with the NMC within the UK and have a PIN enabling them to practice autonomously. 

Main duties of the job

  • Provide high quality women centred care within allocated resources at Hubs and community settings.
  • Promote safe and effective practice
  • Enhance women and families experience
  • Contribute to the delivery of the operational efficiency of the service and deliver against organisational objectives
  • The post holder will provide total midwifery care for both high and low risk mothers within all midwifery environments
  • Able to provide the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of maternity care
  • Be accountable for own actions
  • Promote excellent multidisciplinary communication and teamwork
  • The post holder will generally have a home base at The Hub but at times of escalation may be required to undertake cross-site working to meet the needs of the women across the service.
  • To participate in hospital on-calls (currently minimum 4 per year)

Training & Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered Midwife
  • Mentorship qualification or similar (i.e PS/PA)
  • Evidence of CPD
Desirable criteria
  • NIPE practitioner

Experience & Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Awareness of professional responsibilities.
  • Experience of all areas of maternity care
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working with vulnerable families
  • BFI accredited training

Skills & Ability

Essential criteria
  • Able to demonstrate the mentoring of students and induction of new staff.
  • Competent in a variety of clinical skills including cannulation and perineal suturing
  • Demonstrate knowledge of emergency procedures within the community
Desirable criteria
  • Has participated in research and audit
  • Line management responsibilities of non-midwifery staffing (e.g. MSW's)
