Are you a forward-thinking and clinically credible practitioner equipped with community nursing experience, to lead the evening & overnight community nursing team? 

We have an exciting opportunity for a community nursing lead to join our established out of hours team. The role is diverse and practice focused  with innovative service developments and collaborative working  to create an outstanding service for patients and families.  You will  join an established highly experienced peer group of Community Nursing Leads within the Integrated Community Teams.

We are currently in the early stages of strengthening and enhancing our out of hours  community nursing service and the individual appointed to this post will be a part of these upcoming conversations to support the ongoing development of the service. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced community nurse who has the drive and enthusiasm to lead the out of hours community nursing service. Working cohesively is important to us and this leadership role will encompass motivating and inspiring a team.

Main duties of the job

As the Community Nurse lead for the out of hours service, you will be a role model to the team, providing clinical support, mentorship and supervision. Your transition into this new role will be supported with a comprehensive induction plan, regular supervision and leadership support.

  • To provide operational line management of evening and overnight district nursing teams in the County ensuring business continuity with in-hours community and district nursing services.
  • To provide leadership, clinical supervision and support for the team within the evening and overnight service.
  • To oversee the management and prioritisation of the evening and overnight workload to ensure effective care delivery and best use of the organisation’s resources including the budget for this service.
  • To ensure the development and effectiveness of the evening and overnight service, and links to the Integrated community teams and community nursing agendas  countywide.
  • To ensure the operational stability and functioning of the evening and overnight service to provide a consistent, equitable countywide provision.
  • To provide leadership, clinical supervision and support for the team within the evening and overnight service.
  • To assume delegated responsibility and activities as directed by the Community Manager. 
  • Ensure service delivery is of high quality and operating within a clear governance structure ensuring patient safety and continuous learning

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • NMC Registered
  • Masters level qualification /or equivalent experience
  • Educated to degree level (or diploma equivalent)
Desirable criteria
  • Extended skills qualification (SPQ or Equivalent)
  • Teaching and Assessing Qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Extensive post registration experience in Community Nursing
  • Experience of supporting staff through change and service development.
  • Significant leadership experience
  • Breadth of clinical / professional experience

Professional /Managerial Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Able to demonstrate an understanding of HR issues e.g. recruitment and retention, performance management.
  • Able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of quality assurance, audit and effectiveness monitoring
  • Able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of governance and its application to practice and service development
