Join us in leading the way at Cheltenham General Hospital Urology Department, now located in a state-of-the-art facility featuring 10 clinic rooms. Here, collaboration is key, with Consultants, Administration and the Managerial team all working side by side.
We're looking for a Urology Clinical Nurse Specialist to support patients through their initial assessment, diagnostic testing, treatment and follow up for bladder renal, penile and testicular cancers. Main duties of the job
- Supporting patients with confirmed Bladder, Renal and Testicular Cancers
- Acts as a source of support and information for patients with confirmed cancer
- Refer for testing where appropriate as part of surveillance protocols
- Refer for Senior review where straight to test is not appropriate or there is a change in their condition
- Share test results patients and explain the next steps of investigation or treatment
- Undertakes research activities and leads clinical audits in own specialist area.
- Communicates with a range other staff of all disciplines, acting as a highly specialist resource including liaison with health care providers both within and outside of the Trust regarding diagnosis and treatment advice.

The Urology Team is made of 13 Consultants, 8 Clinical Nurse Specialists and 2 Cancer Support Workers along with a specialist administrative team to support the patient journey and experience. Which has been enhanced by the move to a new Urology Department on Alstone Clinic.

Essential and Desirable
Essential criteria
- Evidence of ongoing professional development and clinical experience
- Advanced Communications skills course
- Evidence of managing cancer patients complex needs
- Able to contribute to the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of policies/protocols/guidelines relevant to area of practice
- Specialist clinical skills and experience within either Urology or Oncology
- Active registration with the NMC as a Registered Nurse
Desirable criteria
- Demonstrates ability to keep up to date with professional issues that influence clinical practice, management, education and research
