Job overview

An opportunity has arisen for a  B5 staff nurse for 12 month fixed term post on Woodmancote Ward to cover maternity leave.

We are looking for a Registered Nurse who delivers compassionate, professional, skilled and effective person centred, evidence based nursing care by working within a multidisciplinary team, developing collaborative, needs based care plans through assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.

You will also have the opportunity to rotate to Hatherley Ward - the hyper acute stroke unit - so that you gain an understanding of the stroke pathway.

Additional working pattern details: Fully rotational

Main duties of the job

To work as part of the stroke multidisciplinary team .

Care for a group of patients in the acute phase following a stroke and support with their rehabilitation post stroke.

To implement and be responsible for maintaining high standards of patient care.

To promote patient safety

To act in accordance with policies and nursing procedures as per Trust policy.

To ensure confidentiality of patient records and high standards of nursing documentation.

To be aware of the complaints procedure and be able to apply it as needed.

To escalate as appropriate any untoward incidents, complaints and ward/staff issues.

To maintain own personal portfolio/profile and to take responsibility for annual updates on current legislative/hospital issues.

To carry out all administrative and nursing duties as delegated by the shift leader or ward manager

Woodmancote Ward is a 32 bedded acute stroke unit based at Cheltenham General Hospital. Opportunity to rotate to Hatherley Ward for wider stroke experience.
