Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for Modern Matron role within Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS trust inpatient mental health services. The Modern Matron role will cover our 2 recovery units and local male Low Secure Services.


You will have significant experience of working with people with severe and enduring mental health problems including forensic experience and
have a qualification equivalent to degree level in Mental Health Nursing

As an ideal candidate for this post you would be an experienced and highly competent mental health practitioner with experience in leadership and management looking for a new challenge and seeking an opportunity to make a real difference to people’s lives. Main duties of the job

  • Manage and provide strategic leadership to clinical managers and the multi-disciplinary team
  • Responsible for the management of a designated clinical development, clinical environment, allocating and providing sufficient resources and opportunities to deliver person centred nursing care, involving service users and carers
  • Work within the Modern Matrons’ charter to ensure good standards of cleanliness, health and safety
  • Manage the recruitment and deployment of people in an area of work
  • Supervise and teach qualified and unqualified staff including students
  • Be responsible for the identification of learning and development needs; to plan how these will be met and evaluate the effectiveness for learners and the impact on care
