Job overview

We are seeking  two experienced Practice Educator and Neonatal Senior Nurses to join and support and lead our team at our Southend Hospital site.

As a Neonatal Senior Nurse you will be required to Initiate, evaluate and maintain a high standard of care, ensuring that it is evidence 
based and compliant with best practice recommendations for NICU services.

This post would suit a qualified Neonatal Nurse that is compassionate, a patient advocate and an effective role model who always strives to deliver excellent patient care.

Main duties of the job

  • Responsible for leading in the assessment of care needs the development, implementation and evaluation of care.
  • To manage and lead the nursing team and other staff in the clinical area assuring the highest standards of clinical care
  • To ensure effective communication between members of the multidisciplinary team to facilitate continuity of care and to promote effective team working.
  • To manage standards of care ensuring family involvement is encouraged.
  • To manage the provisions of high quality service for patients on a continuous basis.
  • Laise with members of the multidisciplinary team
  • To ensure effective supervision of clinical & non-clinical risk reporting to the Neonatal Unit Manager
  • Work closely with the Neonatal Unit matron to lead the clinical development of the unit and the Trust’s nursing strategy.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Strong experience as a Band 6 Neonatal Nurse
  • Leadership experience
  • Evidence of continuous professional and personal development Demonstrate an ability to manage high quality patient care provision. Change management experience and evidence to support change management values to towards everyone who uses or delivers our patient services
  • Knowledge and experience of clinical Governance.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience as a Neonatal Band 7

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse on part 1 or 12 of the NMC Register
Desirable criteria
  • Leadership course/qualification

Communication Skills

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrates excellent communication & Interpersonal skills
  • Ability to deal with conflict and conflict resolution
