Are you passionate about enhancing patient care and supporting surgical services? Join our dynamic team as a Surgical Care Practitioner (SCP) in Gynaecology Oncology!

As a Surgical Care Practitioner, you will be an integral part of the extended surgical team, augmenting the medical role with your assessment, decision-making, and diagnostic skills. 

This is an exciting opportunity for a Surgical Care Practitioner’s to expand their clinical skills in robotic surgery in Gynaecology Oncology. Training will be provided to the successful applicants in Gynaecology Robotic Surgery.

Fixed term/Secondment funded role with the potential opportunity for permanent funding.  

Main duties of the job

You will be an integral part of the team supporting the directorate in the delivery of key performance targets particularly the quality and experience agenda.

  • Provide pre, peri-, post- operative and post discharge support and information to patients and carers to provide continuity of care
  • Work with the Clinical Nurse Specialists and broader MDT team, in all aspects of patient care and provide an educational and supportive role to patients and their families.
  • Support ward nursing staff with the care of the gynaecological patients and liaise between the medical, nursing staff and patients.
  • Maintain current awareness of all developments in emergency surgery and the implications this may have on all aspects of patients’ care, resulting in the development and updating of on-going education programmes for all staff
  • Attend and participate in National study days and conferences as required.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Current registration with Nursing and Midwifery Council or Health Profession Council.
  • Masters Level Qualification in Surgical Care Practice

Knowledge and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience as Surgical Care Practitioner
  • Advanced general/laparoscopic surgical skills
  • Experience in service development
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in a gynaecology operating theatre and/or robotics surgery
  • Non Medical prescribing or willing to work towards
  • Experience in audit
