Job overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic, caring and motivated individual who has a keen interest in developing their knowledge and skills in the surgical care of patients. If you are interested in a new challenge and embrace innovation then this could be the role for you.
We are looking for a Theatre Assistant to come and work alongside our dedicated theatre team within our new surgical hub. You will complete an in house training programme which incorporates all essential competencies required to be able to deliver safe, individualised, patient centred care.
There are a number of developmental opportunities available to those who wish to develop within the operating theatre environment. We are happy to support staff in apprenticeship programmes. Currently we offer both the Nursing and Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) Apprenticeships. We are committed to developing and supporting our staff who wish to grow within the theatre environment.
South Theatres new surgical hub delivers both Elective and Emergency surgery. The department provides a 24 hour service for Emergency surgery and comprises of 8 operating theatres.
These consist of 1 dedicated Emergency theatre, an urgent surgical Theatre and 6 Elective Theatres. The specialities include General surgery, Plastics, Breast, Laparoscopic, Urology, Colorectal, ENT and the newest innovation introduced at Ipswich Hospital, Robotic surgery using the Da Vinci Robot.
Main duties of the job
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, motivated individual who has a keen interest in patient centred care and the surgical environment.
You will:
- Provide support to patients, their families and carers.
- Work as part of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure we maintain the highest standards of patient care.
- Be pro-active in their own learning and development.
