Job overview
This is an exciting time to join our amazing team in Children's Services as Junior Sister/Charge Nurse within our Children's Unit in Ipswich Hospital.
You will need excellent communication and management skills and the ability to manage resources efficiently. Applicants need an awareness of the importance of continuous service improvement through research and evidence based practice to consistently deliver a high standard of care and deliver a service that meets the current demands of our patients.
Our Senior nurses will work together to coordinate the nursing staff and patient flow in the department and providing High Dependency Care for children who meet this criteria. Successful candidates will be part of the team rota and be expected to work long days rotating onto nights, weekends and bank holidays on a four-week rota basis.
Main duties of the job
§ To support and deputise for the Manager and provide effective leadership.
§ To contribute towards the overall management, leadership and development of the Unit and Directorate
§ To facilitate high standards of professional practice and the delivery of care by working within Trust, Directorate and professional guidelines and protocols
§ To provide a safe and welcoming environment for children, young people and their families, working within available resources

Experience
Essential criteria
- Proven Band 5 experience
- Experience of ward management
Desirable criteria
- Specialised knowledge relevant to field of practice.
- Enhanced role e.g. venepuncture, cannulation and ordering of investigations
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- RSCN / RN (Child) (Part 8 or 15 of the NMC Register)
- High Dependency Care Qualification
- Teaching & Assessing qualification
- Paediatric Advanced Life Support Certificate (PALS/ EPLS)
- Evidence of continuing professional development through portfolio
Desirable criteria
- Relevant Nursing degree or evidence of working towards
- Relevant management course/ LEO
- Evidence of recent safeguarding children course

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
