Job overview
We are looking for a Glaucoma Nurse to join our busy Ophthalmology Nursing team.
You must have good communication skills and an experience in clinical expertise within glaucoma care.
Our teams of nurses ensure high standards of holistic nursing care and work as part of a Multi-Disciplinary Team consisting of Ophthalmology, Optometry and Orthoptist staff.
Main duties of the job
You will provide clinical, professional and strategic leadership of Glaucoma Services within the department.
You have to be recognised as a clinical expert in Glaucoma ensuring all advise and services provided are evidence-based and in line with national and local policies and guidelines. Responsibilities will include the management and delivery of direct clinical care to glaucoma patients, follow up care and discharge summaries. This will be provided in both a clinic based service and virtual based service for this patient group. This will include assessment, diagnosis, provision of education, advice, emotional and psychological support, counselling regarding range of treatment options and list for surgical intervention if appropriate.
You will identify opportunities for service expansion and lead the development and redesign of glaucoma services including pathway implementation.
You will act as an advanced autonomous practitioner who is professionally and legally accountable and responsible for all aspects of work including decisions about treatment and management of highly complex patients.
