Job overview
We have a great opportunity for a Professional Midwifery Advocate to join our team at East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust.
This is full time ( 37.5 hour per week) post cross side or 18.75 hpw on Colchester and 18.75 hpw on Ipswich site.
You will support the delivery of a high quality, safe and compassionate healthcare service and act as a role model to others in all aspects of their work and consistently demonstrate the Trust Values and behaviours.
Main duties of the job
· The post holder must be available to deploy the A-EQUIP model as required by the Trust.
· To support midwives to identify their own personal action for quality improvement if required.
· Use their understanding of personal and professional resilience and support others to develop this attribute.
· Ensure that there is a strong interface between the PMA and Clinical Governance across ESNEFT.
· Use their expert knowledge in midwifery practice to support the Head of Midwifery in implementing and monitoring midwifery practice, ensuring that there are robust clinical governance assurance systems in place relating to midwifery practice.
- Provide support to midwives in sharing of good practice learnt through the maternity services’ internal risk management processes with the aim of reducing the incidence of harm and obstetric litigation cases.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered Midwife
- Educated to 1st level degree, BSc level or equivalent level of qualification or experience
- Mentorship preparation or demonstration of level or experience
- Willing to undertake PMA programme
Desirable criteria
- Masters qualification or equivalent
- Relevant post-basic course
- Completed PMA programme
- ALSO course
Experience
Essential criteria
- Broad knowledge and experience of midwifery practice and supervision of midwives
- Experience in escalating concerns.
- Evidence of working in partnership with internal and external stakeholders.
- •Evidence an understanding of and engagement with clinical governance pathways.
Desirable criteria
- Developing clinical competencies
- Experience of a leadership role
- Project management training
