Job overview
Our Trust provides outpatients clinics across a number of sites. There are a vast number of specialties that are covered, from paediatrics to elderly care, general surgery, breast, oncology & minor ops .
This is an exciting time for the outpatients department as we forge forward with improving the service for the patients and the organisation
Our health care support workers are an integral part of the team that delivers services to more than 300,000 patients per year. As an organisation, we have a very active research & development Team, who support patients attending the clinics for regular follow up, especially within the Rheumatology, Dermatology, Gastroenterology and Oncology Services. We have also recently opened a purpose built fracture clinic at PAH.
We welcome applications from motivated and enthusiastic individuals who will be encouraged to develop within this role by working towards gaining the Care Certificate, a nationally recognised qualification . You will also gain hands on experience, supported by our Practice Development Team and our experienced Outpatient Team.

Main duties of the job
- To work as a member of the team in the delivery of direct patient care under the direction of the Outpatients Manager.
- The level of duties undertaken will be agreed and monitored by the clinic manager.
- To assist with basic care and other patient related clinic activities under the supervision or as directed by a Registered Nurse.
- To carry out tasks as instructed by a qualified nurse.
- Assisting with the smooth running of the clinics and the continued service given to patients.
- To be flexible within working hours to accommodate the running of the clinics.

Our extended catchment area incorporates a population of up to 500,000 and includes the areas of Hoddesdon, Cheshunt and Broxbourne in Hertfordshire.

The post is advertised as a band 3 role subject to the following:
-
successfully completing the care certification within the six month probationary period of employment, during which you will be paid Band 2
or
-
providing a copy of your completed care certificate which has been reviewed during the recruitment process and determined as meeting the accepted standard
Upon successful completion (or accepted evidence) of the Care Certification and completion of the probationary period of employment, you will be promoted to NHS AFC Band 3.
Failure to complete the Care Certification within this timeframe may result in termination of employment.
