Job overview

·       Manage Eye unit and Keats House, ophthalmology department in both sites (eye unit in main site and Keats House in Bush Fair, Harlow.

·       To provide daily management of the outpatients staff excluding medical and non-clinical staff, whilst liaising with other service users in the provision of out patients’ services, ensuring that quality services are provided for the patients/service users, resources are efficiently and effectively deployed and that skills and competencies within the department are maintained and developed.

·       Report to ophthalmology Matron and liaise with all operational team like General Manager, Service manager and assistant service manager, regarding clinic capacity

Main duties of the job

·          To appropriately manage both (Eye unit & Keats House) units, maintain safer staffing levels for all clinics

·           To work under own initiative and make confident decisions as required to ensure smooth running of ophthalmology services.

·            To ensure compliance with all relevant Trust policies, including Health & Safety, Infection Prevention Control, Confidentiality, Data Protection, Attendance Management, Risk Register and Incident reporting and maintaining safe working environments within the units

·           To liaise with Keats House Landlords and their team regarding the maintenance of the unit.

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse with NMC
  • Leadership course or management experience at B6 level
Desirable criteria
  • Ophthalmology Knowledge and Experience
  • Managing Clinical audit, clinical governance, Infection Prevention and Control, and research for units/wards

Interview

Essential criteria
  • Experience/knowledge of running nurse led Pre-assessment clinics in NHS
  • Management of patients in outpatient settings
Desirable criteria
  • Experiencing of dealing with incidents, serious incidents, harm reviews and writing Rapid review reports and closing incidents and managing risk register
  • Workforce planning and experience in recruitments and Attendance management
