Job overview

The Essex and Suffolk Elective Orthopaedic Centre at Colchester Hospital will be one of the largest centres of its kind in Europe. Delivering high volume and low complexity cases locally for the people we serve across our region.

Are you an experienced Healthcare Assistant searching for the next step in your career? We are looking for Rehabilitation Assistants to join us.

You will work closely with Registered Nurses and Therapists in the delivery of care and therapy plans to patients. You will participate in Pre and Post Operation Care, Rehabilitation, Assessment and Goal-setting. You will also assist with Health Promotion Programmes and Clinics.

The Dame Clare Marx Building that will house our elective orthopaedic centre (ESEOC) opens in 2024 with a focus on elective orthopaedic surgery and day cases. The centre will have eight laminar flow theatres, three wards, recovery facilities, and support services including radiology and EBME.

Main duties of the job

·         Work in support of the Registered Nurses and Therapists.

·         Work within a team in the delivery of care and therapy plans working in a therapeutic way that promotes independence as appropriate.

·         To make decisions, prioritize and work unsupervised within boundaries agreed by Ward Sister

·         Identify changes from the norm and pass that information to the relevant Professional person and within a time-span relative to the urgency of the situation
