The Community Respiratory team in Mid Essex are looking for Physiotherapist or Nurse either a current band 5 looking to develop to a band 6 or current band 6 with NHS experience to work as part of an established Respiratory team to deliver a service for respiratory patients which includes Spirometry and breathlessness hubs, Virtual Respiratory Ward , home visits, clinics, Pulmonary rehabilitation and consultant MDT meetings . The post holder would be expected to work in clinics and visit patients in their homes . Patients will be contacted via phone and visited as needed as part of a 7 day service. The posts are held within the Mid Essex respiratory team and will offer clinical supervision and teaching. The aim of the team is to provide comprehensive respiratory care to patients in a community setting with an emphasis on people at risk of admission to secondary care.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will help to facilitate the expansion of the Respiratory service for Respiratory patients. Assessing and treating patients in community clinics and home visits, being involved in the Virtual Respiratory ward as well and the opportunity to become ARTP accredited for Spirometry and gaining competencies to take and interpret blood gases.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team providing community based holistic assessments
- Maintain a high standard of patient focused care reflecting an inter-disciplinary approach to rehabilitation and self-management and help provide excellent post discharge care for patients recovering from respiratory exacerbations
- Develop good communication links with patients and carers as well as consultants and service staff
- Establish and promote joint working with other services across professional and organisational boundaries.

QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION
Essential criteria
- Diploma/degree in Physiotherapy, HPC registration and portfolio evidence of postgraduate learning and experience
- or Or Registered Nurse on part 1 of the NMC plus 2 years post graduate experience
Desirable criteria
- Management Qualification
- Management education development, including in supervision/ teaching/team management
- MIPPS course
- Independent/supplementary prescriber
- ARTP registered

Essential criteria
- Understanding of the role specialist Physiotherapist or Nurse
- Experience of respiratory medicine.
- Knowledge of the national public health agenda
- Good understanding of external influences creating changes in NHS Knowledge of primary and community care issues and political changes
Desirable criteria
- Experience with spirometry

- Blood gas sampling and analysis.
- Blood sugar monitoring.
- Experience with virtual video consultations
- Knowledge of pharmacology.
