Here is an exciting opportunity for you to join us as a deputy team leader.

 

You will adhere to NMC Code of Practice at all times and ensure departmental compliance with, and application of, hospital policies and procedures. Assist in the development, implementation and monitoring of Governance systems in the department relating to Risk Management, Health and Safety and Controls Assurance.

 

In conjunction with the Ophthalmology Unit Manager, Ophthalmic Matron and Multidisciplinary Team, you will lead and co-ordinate a dedicated team of nursing and support staff to ensure the delivery of a high standard of nursing care across the department including off site service at Tyler’s Ride South Woodham Ferrers.

 

Strong, professional leadership qualities are needed at this level to deliver high quality of care, staff morale and the learning environment. You are expected to be flexible with roster to meet service needs and expected to be part in the on-call rota.

Main duties of the job

To assist in audit and performance monitoring requirements.

 

In liaison with the Ophthalmology Manager/Matron ensure that appropriate risk assessments are undertaken and that agreed action plans have been implemented.

 

To ensure compliance with Health and Safety policies.

 

With the department manager ensure the accurate compilation of duty roster to establish and appropriate deployment of manpower and balance of nursing.

 

To identify and implement appropriate learning opportunities for all individuals within the department.

 

To ensure effective communication within the team and externally throughout the operational period across ophthalmology MSE and MDT.

 

To participate in on call rota both social and unsocial hours

To establish and maintain a high profile with patients, carers and all staff involving, advising and using counselling skills as required.

To maintain high levels of confidentiality and information security at all times.
