Come and join our fantastic team in the Paediatric Unit!

 We are looking for a newly qualified/experienced band 5 nurse, looking to join a friendly dynamic team!

We are a large general hospital that cares for the health needs of a large number of service users in a versatile community.

In Paediatrics at Basildon Hospital, There are two wards with 20 in patient beds. As well as caring for the acutely unwell child, there is a dedicated en-suite oncology room and care is also provided for a range of children requiring surgery (both planned and emergency).

We have a day unit where our patients with oncology conditions and sickle cell and other hematological conditions come for their regular medication/ transfusions.

If you are applying as a final year student nurse, you will need to provide evidence that you have fulfilled all requirements of your course and are awaiting an NMC Pin.

Main duties of the job

You will be supported to enable you to deliver the high standards of nursing care that we aim to deliver here at Basildon Hospital.

We have an amazing multidisciplinary team who all work closely to deliver high standards of care to our service users. 

You will carry out all the necessary mandatory training you require, and importantly level 3 safeguarding where you will be supported through the polices and guidelines we have in our trust.  

We have a fantastic group of Clinical Practice Facilitators that will support you on your transitional journey into our wonderful team.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • RSCN / RN (child)
Desirable criteria
  • Relevant nursing degree
  • MIPS/ENB 998 or equivalent
  • Current APLS/EPLS or willingness to undertake

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Nursing experience in the care of the child and family in an acute paediatric care setting.
Desirable criteria
  • Ability to audit/benchmark
  • Production of reports
  • Experience or awareness in management of junior staff
  • Experience or awareness of child protection issues
  • Experience or awareness of change management

Skills

  • Excellent communication skills - non verbal and verbal.
