An exciting opportunity has arisen and we are in the position to recruit Mental Health Practitioners to work within the fast pace Crisis Response Service (CRS) offering a community response to those experiencing a mental health crisis.   This is a 12 months developmental post for suitably experienced Band 5 applicants seeking to progress to a Band 6 role within a 12 months’ period.

You will work under supervision of a Senior Mental Health Clinician with further support from the Clinical Team Lead. Your performance will be assessed regularly with performance reviews at the end of each quarter. You will be assessed prior to your progression to the Band 6 pay band to ensure that you:

Can prove your competency to work at the higher specialist level.              Have achieved the necessary specialist knowledge to undertake your role and responsibilities as a Band 6 clinician.         

On reaching the required level of specialist knowledge and experience and following a successful assessment against the specified criteria, automatic pay progression will be applied.

What is Staff Bank?

Our EPUT NHS staff bank is an entity managed by the trust that hires clinical and non-clinical healthcare professionals to take on shifts at our trust hospitals and community settings. Here at EPUT we maintain our own bank of specialist staff to ensure that we are able offer safe and effective care at all times.

All our permanent staff are automatically enrolled onto the staff bank however this does not mean you have to work any additional shifts, but the option is there for you if you wish.

If you are joining our Trust in a fixed term role, please indicate on your New Starter Paperwork that you wish to join our staff bank.

You will work as a member of the MDT in providing high quality, evidence-based, holistic care to patients in line with your professional code of conduct and Trust policies. You will assess, plan, implement and evaluate NICE Guidance packages of care based upon individual patient needs, under the guidance of the Team Leader.

 

As a Telecoach, you will provide clinical risk and mental state assessment, formulation and brief psychological interventions for people presenting in mental health crisis. Working mainly via telephone, Telecoaches are experts in validating, de-escalating crisis, and coaching people in distress tolerance and emotional regulation strategies. By using a range of brief psychological interventions, Telecoaches empower patients, carers and families to manage distress and crisis effectively.

Education/ Qualifications

  • Registered Mental Nursing (RMN) Current NMC Registration
  • At least one year post qualification experience in a clinical setting and should have completed preceptorship.
  • High standard of education
  • Good written and spoken English

  • Post graduate qualification or commitment to work towards this
  • Qualified psychological therapist

Knowledge

  • Proven experience of working in a health, social care or community setting as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Proven experience of working with people with mental health conditions and vulnerable service users
  • Ability to conduct risk assessments of the individual in the service user environment
  • Evidence based psychological therapies relevant to the clinical service

  • Able to deliver from a range of possible key therapeutic interventions CBT, Psychosocial interventions, Family Interventions, DBT approaches

Skills/Experience

  • Good oral communication skills based on fluency on the English language
  • Deliver training to colleagues and lower banded staff
  • Assess and treat own caseload of service users in accordance with Trust clinical pathways
  • Undertake a range of clinical duties e.g. providing practical support and guidance to service users
