Nutrition Assistant

Hull University Teaching Hospitals are seeking to recruit a Band 3 Nutrition Assistant to join our diverse team of allied health professionals and support staff who work across a range of clinical specialties within an acute care setting.

This post is within the Surgical team at HRI, but specifically on Ward 100 which specialises in Gastroenterology. 

This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic person to deliver nutritional support to patients and work alongside the rest of the mutli-disciplinary team to improve patients nutrition.

The post holder will be expected to work either two 7.5 hour shifts or three 5 hour shifts over the course of 7 days. This day may vary on the needs of the service. 

This position is for Ward 100 Gastroenterology ward, Hull royal infirmary. This ward is a 27 bedded mixed sex ward that supports and cares for a number of patients that require additional nutritional support as a result of their condition. 

Please note that this advertised vacancy does not meet the UKVI eligibility requirements for a Skilled Worker Visa and therefore HUTH would not be able to issue a Certificate of Sponsorship for this role. 

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

  • Assist patients with nutrition and communicate with registered staff members about what the patients have had to eat and drink
  • Assist patients with menus and learn about the different types of menus we have on the gastroenterology wards and what we should be offering patients
  • Assist staff to weigh patients and ensure this is documented on nerve centre and the patient is highlighted the correct risk level 
  • Give out nutrition leaflets and put risk stickers in patients notes
  • Ensure the kitchen board is up to date and patient dietary requirements are recorded. 
  • Working with other members of the MDT to improve patients nutrition. 
  • Escalating any nutrition concerns to the nursing team
