Job overview

As part of NHS’s England’s Growing Occupational Health Vision, our occupational health service is undergoing a period of significant change focused on improving the health and wellbeing of our staff. We are developing our established team and have a number of exciting opportunities within the occupational health department, so now is a fantastic time to join us.

The post holder will work as an essential member of the occupational health and wellbeing team and support in delivering an effective, efficient, responsive and high-quality service.

To help us achieve our aims, we are looking for a highly motivated, well organised individual who is able to communicate across a wide group of individuals. We are seeking to recruit a qualified (on part 3 of the NMC register), experienced, highly motivated, and enthusiastic occupational health advisor.

You will be involved in all aspects of the service, providing a high level comprehensive Occupational Health Service to Trust staff, facilitating employee wellbeing through health screening, health assessment and health promotion, working as part of a cohesive occupational health team within a very busy environment.

The ideal candidate will be highly confident, have excellent communication skills, proficient IT skills and a flexible pro-active approach to be able to manage a varied and demanding workload.

Main duties of the job

Working alongside our multidisciplinary team, maintaining your professional specialist nursing skills you will work autonomously providing all aspects of specialist OH services delivering care with compassion.

A significant part of this varied and dynamic role will be to lead and support the development of the multidisciplinary team (MDT) to provide and maintain a competent workforce that is responsive to our new ways of working.

Our MDT currently comprises a range of health professions: Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Clinical Psychology, OH Medical Practitioner, supported by our excellent Administrative Team.

Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Registration with NMC Part 1
  • Postgraduate qualification in Occupational Health
  • Demonstrates a clear understanding of professional accountability in the scope of professional practice.
  • Innovative and adaptable, with strong leadership and management skills.
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge and experience of working in NHS occupational health

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Managing complex cases Must have experience in mentoring/facilitation/ teaching/ assessing/ coaching.
  • Broad experience in Occupational Health
Desirable criteria
  • Minimum of 12 months working in a healthcare environment

Skills and Competancies

Essential criteria
  • Ability to work effectively with minimum supervision.
  • Able to prioritise own workload and manage own time, self motivated and capable of working flexibly and to strict deadlines using own initiative.
Desirable criteria
  • Able to manage the occupational health team in managers absence.
