Job overview

The AMHP Provision on behalf of Hull City Council delivered by Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust is currently undergoing a re-design and modernisation.

A significant aspect of this redesign is the development and provision of an AMHP Hub.  As a team member you will be pivotal to the effective delivery of a statutory AMHP service, which consists of the Hub and a wider cohort of AMHPs, who are dispersed in a range of community teams. The hub aspires to provide a centre of excellence and will offer learning and development opportunities for AMHPs and trainees.

You will be able to demonstrate your ability to be an effective Team player  who can support the AMHP Hub Team Lead to develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures, policies and processes for the service and will be responsible for quality assurance and performance within the Hub

 

 

Main duties of the job

You will be able to demonstrate your ability to operate at a high standard as an amhp and take a leadership role within the hub and across the trust in relation to the delivery of the amhp service.  You will provide support to the amhp hub team leader in developing and maintaining standard operating procedures, policies and processes for the service.

You will provide support and advice to the team and will be responsible for ensuring safe working practices and managing staff welfare, as well as service delivery. You will support AMHPs in the service to maintain a high standard of practice and foster a culture of Best Practice within the AMHP Service.

To practice widely as an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP), including participating on the Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) rota.

Person specification

Qualifications & Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • A Post graduate professional qualification relevant to the professional service specialism (such as CQSW/CSS/DipSW or BA/MA in Social Work or equivalent and PQSW); plus, significant and broad experience demonstrating applied application of the above levels of knowledge in a relevant setting.
  • Extensive knowledge of the AMHP role and knowledge of the Mental Health Act, related guidance and case law
Desirable criteria
  • Practice Educator qualification (ideally Level 2 qualified)

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant post qualification experience in dealing with significant and diverse issues. At least 5 years post qualifying experience in Mental Health Work.
  • Significant experience in frontline mental health services including assessment, care planning and managing a complex caseload of diverse needs including risk/safeguarding issues

Skills & Competencies

Essential criteria
  • Able to work independently but also as an effective Partnership team member
  • Able to provide a clear sense of direction and take ownership of planned objectives, delegating effectively when required
