Job overview

As part of ongoing development of the Community Children's Nursing Services within City Health Care Partnership CIC, a vacancy has arisen for a Band 5 nurse to join the Sunshine House short break unit. We are passionate team who offer respite and short breaks to children and young people (0-18 years) with complex disabilities and health needs. We also offer palliative care services to children and their families within our Forget-Me-Not suite. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to work with the wider CCN and Special Schools nursing teams, to support them as required. Due to the variety of short breaks we offer, the successful candidate will be expected to work a range of shifts, including days, nights and weekends. 

Main duties of the job

As an integral part of the team, you will demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills, managing your own workload whilst leading the healthcare staff on shift. You will be expected to plan, implement and evaluate care for our client group and will have recent experience in working alongside children with complex needs and their families and will be passionate for ensuring their health needs are met. Whilst the role is based at Sunshine House, you will be flexible to support different staff teams providing nursing care across Hull and East Riding, as required. The role will incorporate caring for children and their families within a range of environments including Sunshine House, school, home and other care or respite settings. The CCN Service covers both acute and complex conditions, phlebotomy and wound clinics, and continence support.   • Registered Nurse e.g. Child/Learning Disabilities/General
  • Evidence of continuing professional developmen
Desirable criteria
  • Teaching Qualification e.g. ENB 998 or equivalent

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Clinical skills competencies
  • Knowledge of health care planning
  • Familiarity and understanding of child development and complex health needs
  • Good working knowledge of electronic care records
Desirable criteria
  • Good understanding of the needs of children with complex health needs/life limiting conditions
  • Ability to delegate duties and prioritise workload

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Post Registration experience in a clinical setting
  • Experience of working with children and young people with complex health needs
