Job overview

The Cardiac Catheter Labs are looking for an ODP or Theatre Nurse with the Anaesthetic Nurse qualification to join our team of Registered Nurses. The team works alongside their multi-disciplinary colleagues including Radiographers, Cardiac Physiologists, Registrars and Cardiology Consultants to deliver interventional cardiology procedures. We have 4 busy labs which cover elective and acute patient caseloads as well as the emergency out of hours PPCI service 365 days a year which the post-holder will be trained up and expected to partake in as well.

Main duties of the job

A preceptorship package will be part of the training for the successful candidate to be able to circulate and scrub in all interventional cardiology procedures including, angiograms/-plasties, TAVI, cardiac devices, EP studies and extractions.

This person will be expected to work closely with our anaesthetic colleagues to ensure the safety of our patients during general anaesthetic cases and emergencies when patients require intubating/ventilating and when we have surgical cut downs in TAVI procedures for the more complex patients.

We will ensure that you are kept up to date with your skills and working with the Charge ODP in Cardiac Theatres and the education team will ensure that opportunities are available for specific training/skills are maintained.

  • Registered Nurse or Registered Operating Department Practitioner
  • If Registered Nurse - must have anaesthetic Nurse qualification

Experience

  • Demonstrate high standard of clinical practice
  • Prior theatre experience
