At Rye, Winchelsea and District Memorial Hospital we offer outpatients, rehabilitation and intermediate services. At Uckfield Community Hospital we provide day surgery and outpatient care.
In the community, we deliver services that focus on people with long term conditions living well outside hospital, through our integrated locality teams working with district and community nursing teams. Community members of staff also provide care to patients in their homes and from a number of clinics, health centres and GP surgeries.
Job overview
We are looking for experienced HCPC registered ODP’s and NMC registered staff with Anaesthetic experience and evidence of IELTS at level 7, to join our team at Conquest Hospital in Hastings. You will need to have at least 2 years’ experience within anaesthetics and ideally have a mentorship qualification. We carry out a wide range of surgery including General Surgery, Orthopaedics, ENT, OBS & Gynae, Breast services and Trauma/CEPOD.
The Theatre complex at Conquest has eight main Theatres and one OBS/GYNAE Theatre and we are looking for enthusiastic applications to help us on our journey to outstanding , our recent CQC report was rated as “Good.”

Main duties of the job
To support the Department Matrons/Deputy Leads in maintaining an efficient and effective service delivering safe patient care within an environment that promotes a responsive approach to changing healthcare needs. Predominantly day shifts, but will incorporate out of hours, nights and weekend working.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse or Registered Operating Department Practitioner.
- Mentorship Preceptorship Course /ENB 998.
- A1/D32 D33.
- PACU: Recognised critical care course/module.
- Evidence of relevant CPD / Revalidation documents.
- Evidence of additional relevant multi skilled competencies within the Operating Theatres or PACU or DSU
Desirable criteria
- Educated to degree level.
- Management/leadership course.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Five years experience as a Registered Practitioner within Theatres/ PACU/ DSU demonstrating areas of responsibility and management.
- Multi skilled competencies within the Operating Theatres or PACU or DSU.
- Experience in leading a clinical area/operating sessions.
- Risk assessor training & experience
Skills
Essential criteria
- Effective leadership and people management skills.
- Effective communication, problem solving and interpersonal skills.
- Able to lead the Multi-disciplinary Team and manage the clinical areas.
- Able to work effectively in stressful situations where the work pattern is unpredictable, highly distressing and be able to concentrate for prolonged periods of time.
- Highly developed psychomotor skills, to manipulate work with delicate, specialist equipment and instrumentation.
