Our extensive health services are provided by over 7,000 dedicated members of staff working from two acute hospitals in Hastings and Eastbourne, three community hospitals in Bexhill, Rye and Uckfield, over 100 community sites across East Sussex, and in people’s own homes. 


In 2020 the Care Quality Commission (CQC) rated us as ‘Good’ overall, and ‘Outstanding’ for being Caring and Effective. The Conquest Hospital in Hastings and our Community Services were rated ‘Outstanding’ and Eastbourne DGH was rated ‘Good’ Our two acute hospitals have Emergency Departments and provide 24 hour a day care, offering a comprehensive range of surgical, medical, outpatient and maternity services, supported by a full range of diagnostic and therapy services. 


In the summer of 2020, the Trust launched its ambitious ‘Building for our Future’ (BFF) programme. This once in a lifetime programme aims to redevelop and expand our hospitals at Eastbourne, Hastings and Bexhill, transforming the environment in which we provide care for generations to come.

Our centre for trauma services and obstetrics is at Conquest Hospital, while our centre for urology and stroke services is at Eastbourne DGH. At Bexhill Hospital we offer a range of outpatient, day surgery, rehabilitation and intermediate care services. At Rye, Winchelsea and District Memorial Hospital we offer outpatients, rehabilitation and intermediate services. At Uckfield Community Hospital we provide day surgery and outpatient care.

In the community, we deliver services that focus on people with long term conditions living well outside hospital, through our integrated locality teams working with district and community nursing teams. Community members of staff also provide care to patients in their homes and from a number of clinics, health centres and GP surgeries.

A rare opportunity has arisen to work within our Cardiac Rehabilitation Specialist Team at the Conquest Hospital and Eastbourne District General hospital.

We are looking to appoint a self-motivated, enthusiastic and positive thinking nurse; to work in a cross-site role. To work 30 hours a week over 4 days - 2 days at each hospital site. This person will need to have a keen interest in cardiac prevention and rehabilitation, and be able to practice autonomously. 

This is an ideal opportunity for anyone interested in this specialist area of cardio-vascular medicine to develop expertise and further his or her professional development.

You will be responsible for an individual caseload of clients post referral through to discharge from the programme, this will cover in-patient and out- patient settings, clinics, and exercise groups.

The role involves careful and comprehensive clinical assessment throughout the patient’s treatment; the safe running of and participation in the out- patient exercise groups and cardiovascular risk assessment clinics. It includes advice on optimising secondary prevention. You will provide individualised, cardiovascular risk assessment, lifestyle and risk factor modification, and behaviour change advice.

You should have experience in the cardio-vascular field with good interpersonal and presentation skills. You will need to feel confident to independently manage a patient caseload, including care planning and co-ordinating their menu-based rehabilitation programme. You will work well within the team to provide and supervise a comprehensive cardiac rehabilitation programme from referral to discharge, adapted to individual clinical need and patient preference, for all cardio-vascular patients meeting the referral inclusion criteria.

We are looking for someone who demonstrates particular skills and interest in cardiac rehabilitation; who is a registered nurse with at least five years post registration experience, some within cardio-vascular medicine and who demonstrates drive and excellent communication skills.
