The Conquest Hospital in Hastings and our Community Services were rated ‘Outstanding’ and Eastbourne DGH was rated ‘Good’ Our two acute hospitals have Emergency Departments and provide 24 hour a day care, offering a comprehensive range of surgical, medical, outpatient and maternity services, supported by a full range of diagnostic and therapy services. 


In the summer of 2020, the Trust launched its ambitious ‘Building for our Future’ (BFF) programme. This once in a lifetime programme aims to redevelop and expand our hospitals at Eastbourne, Hastings and Bexhill, transforming the environment in which we provide care for generations to come.

Our centre for trauma services and obstetrics is at Conquest Hospital, while our centre for urology and stroke services is at Eastbourne DGH. At Bexhill Hospital we offer a range of outpatient, day surgery, rehabilitation and intermediate care services. At Rye, Winchelsea and District Memorial Hospital we offer outpatients, rehabilitation and intermediate services. At Uckfield Community Hospital we provide day surgery and outpatient care.

In the community, we deliver services that focus on people with long term conditions living well outside hospital, through our integrated locality teams working with district and community nursing teams. Community members of staff also provide care to patients in their homes and from a number of clinics, health centres and GP surgeries.

 

Job overview

Band 5 Interventional Radiology Nurse

An exciting opportunity for 12 Months secondment or temporary fixed term contract. This is a dynamic ever evolving position.

Main duties of the job

We would like to appoint a Staff Nurse to join our small, friendly and hard-working team. Applications are invited from enthusiastic, well-motivated and caring nurses. Our Interventional Radiology department is a purpose-built suite situated in the main radiology department. It’s a dynamic, fast paced environment and it is developing rapidly. New techniques alongside new equipment and a motivated multidisciplinary team certainly ensure that no two days are the same!

There are elements of recovery nursing and surgical scrubbing involved in this post and rest assured that full training and support is promised to the successful candidate.

A minimum of 6 months post qualification experience is desirable, although newly qualified nurses are welcome to apply as a full preceptorship programme will support you; and remember there is scope to pursue a whole career in this field.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of diploma level / degree level study
  • Registered General Nurse on the NMC register
  • Educated to degree level supplemented by diploma level specialist training or relevant equivalent training and experience
  • Enhanced clinical skills in specialist area.
  • Evidence of continual professional development

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of significant post registration NHS or simiar experience
  • Proven relevant recent experience of patient care in specialist area
  • Experience of working autonomously and managing own patient caseload
  • Experience of staff supervision
  • Experience of delivering training

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Enhanced skills in specialist area
  • Knowledge of recent developments in specialist area
