Our centre for trauma services and obstetrics is at Conquest Hospital, while our centre for urology and stroke services is at Eastbourne DGH. At Bexhill Hospital we offer a range of outpatient, day surgery, rehabilitation and intermediate care services. At Rye, Winchelsea and District Memorial Hospital we offer outpatients, rehabilitation and intermediate services. At Uckfield Community Hospital we provide day surgery and outpatient care.

In the community, we deliver services that focus on people with long term conditions living well outside hospital, through our integrated locality teams working with district and community nursing teams. Community members of staff also provide care to patients in their homes and from a number of clinics, health centres and GP surgeries.

 

Job overview

A unique opportunity to  lead and manage an established and successful NHS on site nursery. The  onsite childcare facilities which offer care for children aged 6 months to 8 years is owned and run by East Sussex Healthcare and supports the workforce of the hospital and community colleagues by providing flexible and excellent educational opportunities for their children.

We are seeking a passionate candidate who has proven experience of leadership and excellent knowledge of the educational curriculum  of the foundation stage and has a desire to provide exceptional childcare to young children.   

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be responsible for the day to day running of one of the Trust in-house nursery settings. This will include ensuring that all relevant statutory requirements outlined by Ofsted and codes of practice are met.

 

You would be responsible for managing a team of nursery workers, volunteers and students ensuring that their practice meets the care, education and safeguarding standards as outlined by the Trust, Local Authority and Ofsted.

 

You will need to  demonstrate good Leadership skills when delivering the service needs and act as an excellent role model to staff, students and volunteers and to deliver these within the Trust Values and expected behaviours.

 

You will also need to  demonstrate a high level of knowledge and expertise in childcare management and interpersonal skills. To effectively maintain good standards in all aspects of childcare and Early Years education.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Good general level of qualifications including English and Maths
  • NNEB, CACHE Level 3, NVQ or equivalent
  • Level 4 Qualification in Early Years and Education and/or Leadership and Management in Early Years
  • Level 5 in Early Years Education & Leadership or have equivalent experience and knowledge
  • Have undertaken Management and Leadership training relevant to a childcare setting
  • Evidence of continued professional development to degree level or equivalent level of knowledge and experience in relevant subject
Desirable criteria
  • Working towards a Degree / Level 6 in Early Years Education or Leadership & Management

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Proven experience of supervising staff as a senior member of staff in an EYFS setting
  • Knowledge of and commitment to child protection, health and safety, equal opportunities, and SEN/Inclusion
  • Safeguarding certified
  • Understanding of relevant polices/codes of practice and awareness of relevant legislation
  • Have post qualification experience in an EYFS setting
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation
  • Knowledge of Early Years curriculum and how this implemented in a childcare setting
  • Paediatric First Aid
  • Experience of successfully passing an Ofsted Inspection to a good or outstanding level
  • Experience at delivering training
  • Experience of supervising students
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of more than one Early Years setting
  • Experience of collaborating with volunteers, parent groups and other community partners
  • Knowledge of ‘Insights Discovery’ or other learning characteristic toolkit for individuals and teams
