In the summer of 2020, the Trust launched its ambitious ‘Building for our Future’ (BFF) programme. This once in a lifetime programme aims to redevelop and expand our hospitals at Eastbourne, Hastings and Bexhill, transforming the environment in which we provide care for generations to come.

Our centre for trauma services and obstetrics is at Conquest Hospital, while our centre for urology and stroke services is at Eastbourne DGH. At Bexhill Hospital we offer a range of outpatient, day surgery, rehabilitation and intermediate care services. At Rye, Winchelsea and District Memorial Hospital we offer outpatients, rehabilitation and intermediate services. At Uckfield Community Hospital we provide day surgery and outpatient care.

In the community, we deliver services that focus on people with long term conditions living well outside hospital, through our integrated locality teams working with district and community nursing teams. Community members of staff also provide care to patients in their homes and from a number of clinics, health centres and GP surgeries.

 

Job overview

The Infusion unit for ESHT covers both sites Eastbourne District General Hospital and Conquest Hospital St Leonard on Sea. We are a Nurse led unit which facilitates the administration of biologic therapies and other medications which require IV access, to prevent hospital admission.

We are currently running our whole service from Eastbourne, but we hope to provide our patients with a service at conquest in the future.

 We are a dynamic, team providing our service 7 days per week between the hours of 8am -6pm. The main patient cohorts are Gastroenterology and Rheumatology; however, the service is developing, and other specialities are beginning to utilize the service effectively.

 We are seeking Health Care Assistants to join our effective and welcoming team.  Your duties will include initial physiological assessment of patients to provide baseline observations and we will support you to develop cannulation and port access skills. As well as general daily duties to facilitate patient flow and experience.  If you are looking to achieve something new every day, learn new clinical and life skills, meeting people and have a positive impact on patient experience – this is the opportunity for you.

Main duties of the job

You will be required to have National Vocational Qualifications (NVQ) Level 3 in Health and Social Care OR an acceptable, alternative Level 3 Qualification

 Successful applicants will be required to complete a week long Induction course, which will include all the Trust statutory/Mandatory training to join our team inviting them to share their knowledge and experience with the ward; you will need to be well motivated and committed to high standards of patient care.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • GCSE English and Maths grade C or 4 or Functional skills for English/Maths
  • Care Certificate
Desirable criteria
  • 5 GCSE grade 4 or C and above or equivalent
  • Evidence of mandatory and statutory essential training skills, for example, Basic Life Support, manual handling, infection control, fire etc
  • Education and training to NVQ level 3/Work based diploma or equivalent

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Relevant experience of working in Health or Social Care Environment delivering personal care
Desirable criteria
  • Relevant experience working in the NHS
